Guatemalan sunrise from Tajumulco Volcano

The story behind "Guatemalan sunrise from Tajumulco Volcano"

Tajumulco is the highest mountain in central America and a pleasant hike. We camped just below the summit, so the next morning we only had to scramble a little up to see the shadow of Tajumulco being projected over the hazy campos below.
On the other side we could see the distant volcanoes of Fuego, Aqua and Acatenango sticking out of the dark landscape into the orange sky, almost on the other side of the country. The little cloud is actually a recent small eruption from active volcano Fuego..

Shot in July 2000 with Eos 500n, scanned from some old kodachrome film..
