It is great that you kept the colorless background. The composition is fantastic, including the hollowed out tree. I love this photo.

It appears to be Arlo Guthrie\'s, but I haven\'t managed to find the originating song.

Nepali boy in Kathmandu street, Nepal

The story behind "Nepali boy in Kathmandu street, Nepal"

The colours of the background are a bit desaturated on purpose. This was shot during the riots and curfews of early April 2006, where the Nepali were not allowed to go onto the streets during most of the day.
First I had cropped this image to just portray the boy, but then I found that showing and exaggerating the colourless and old background made his friendly casual stance come out better.

Walking around like a pensioner with his hands in his pockets, this small world citizen likely had no clue why old power-hungry men were fighting their political and physical battles over his head. And even more likely, he probably didn’t care, which -if we all behaved like that- would take the power away from the wrong hands quickly.

I am not online as I am writing this and cannot check so correct me if I am wrong, but I think it was dutch free poet society Loesje who once said:
“What if there is a war and just nobody shows up for it?”
