Patriot Hills is the small range where the commercial and scientific bases of the same name are based.
Most people only stay a short while to take a connecting Twinotter flight to the South Pole or to Mt Vinson, but there are actually some nice hikes in the area, like this ridge hike over the hills. It is very hard to estimate how far the other mountains are, the air is so pure that estimates are normally far off from the truth and a seemingly short walk can take hours in practice!

It\'s quite impossible to acquire a sense of scale here. On first glance, the \'mountains\' you mentioned seemed just small hills a few hundred meters away.
