    I love the ropes holding the maps together. How smart. Never thought of it, but they allow for much denser packing than shelves while still giving enough support to the whole.

The story behind "Nepali archive"

We live in a world of information and files. If you live in a country that has no cheap supply of harddisks and other electronic back-up systems, then you are stuck with the slow and tedious process of turning trees into a mess and call it an archive..

Unfortunately there are even people in the more developed countries that print out emails and get newspaper subscriptions because it looks interesting..

I found this in the back wall of a storage room of an expedition company in Kathmandu..
