The story behind "Aconcagua, South face from summit"

Aconcagua is the highest mountain of South America -actually the highest outside of Asia- and therefore one of the 7 summits. There are many routes to the top, from which this image was shot. The difference in difficulty between the Normal routes coming from the gully -The Canaleta- on right on this image and the South Face on the left side of the ridge is considerable.

Taken on New Years day 2003/2004, exactly 3 years and 1 day after my first summit, on New years Eve :-)

Scanned from a Provia 100 slide, shot with Canon Eos 3. One of the few slides from this 7summits.com trip that survived the aggressive treatment of the so-called Professional photolab in Mendoza, some of the slides even came back with holes in them..
